Henderson Rd. Update Don Hardy of the Community Advisory Council had a slide presentation regarding Henderson Rd. As a community representative at a recent Town Meeting held at Sickles High School, D Hardy learned that Henderson Rd. is considered a Class A road and that the County has no intentions, nor sees any need, for any modifications or upgrading. It was related by D Hardy that each time a proposed development project is presented to the County for approval, the traffic data from 1999 is used when determining approval; it appears that this data is NOT updated as projects are approved. Thus, we have an extreme amount of traffic on Henderson Rd. with anticipation of an even greater increase once WalMart, the new apartment complex on Henderson, the U-Haul Storage facility on Gunn Hwy. and the new single homes on the north side of Gunn Hwy. are constructed. There is also the parcel of land on the northwest corner of Normandie Rd. that has not yet begun to be developed. The 7-11 Store, the Savannah Trace Apartments and the new villas south of our Henderson Rd. entrance were also not considered when making recent approvals for construction. He added that ideally, our Community should have four (4) entrances vs. the two (2) that we do have. A positive note hopefully, the traffic control device at Gunn Hwy. and Henderson Rd. will be installed (by WalMart) by August of this year.
Wal Mart Update - Don Hardy also presented an update on Wal Marts approved landscape plan for the Normandie Rd. entrance. This will include a 6-foot wall on a 2-foot berm, mature trees, ground covers, various native plantings, a sidewalk and irrigation system. This plan has been approved by the County and is more than our Community requested.
Report from Rick Pitrowski, Communities of America -
600 feet of wall have been cleaned in the last two (2) months; this is an expenditure already included in COAs contract with LGV
The fountains at the Henderson Rd. entrance are again up and running. An algaecide was added to hopefully cut down on future maintenance.
All roadside posts and reflectors have been replaced on Logan Gate Blvd. Once the cement has cured, they will be trimmed to similar heights.
Plantings on second half of Logan Gate Blvd. will include English ivy as ground cover (because of the shade) and possibly additional posts and reflectors, dependent on the depth of utility lines in that area
R Pitrowski again accepted compliments on the up lighting of the trees on Logan Gate Blvd.
Home Owners Association
D Gilliam reported there would be a June newsletter.
The resolution of Code violations has been stepped up due to a report by a resident that he is unable to sell his home due to conditions on a neighboring property.
There was a suggestion for a Community Garage Sale; but in the fall, when the weather is cooler.
A motion was made by M Dufva that the STD Board purchase the 2 center pages of each newsletter as a means of communicating to the Community and also as a means of supporting the HOA and its endeavors. M Ruth seconded the motion. Motion passed 5-0.
Next Meeting - Monday, June 24, 2002, 7:00 pm at the Winn Dixie Store on Gunn Hwy. Tampa, FL.
Meeting Adjournment D Gilliam made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. B Daly seconded the motion. The motion passed 5-0.
