Residents: 6

Others: Rick Pitrowski, Communities of America

1. Welcome – D. Grady welcomed all to the meeting and called it to order at 7:10 PM.

2. Approval of the Draft of October 2002 Minutes

All board members present indicated they had read the draft of the October 2002 Minutes.

C.A. Kapono made a motion to accept the October 2002 Minutes as written. M Dufva seconded the motion. Motion passed 6-0.

3. Approval of October 2002 Treasurers’ Report

C.A. Kapono reported that there was no October 2002 Treasurers’ Report to distribute as Sara Wilhite, the new monthly preparer of our statements, is out of the country until the end of the month.

C.A. Kapono stated that she had given all the necessary information to Bill Johnson for the annual audit.

4. Security Patrol Report

C.A. Kapono spoke for the Sheriff's Department. It continues to be quiet in our community. However, the running stop signs continues to be a problem. A couple residents cited incidents where they were nearly involved in serious accidents due to motorists not heeding the stop signs.

The Sheriff reported that he had received the Letter of Thank You/Commendation sent regarding the excellent work of his officers that we employ within our Community. He said he would pass it on.

D. Hardy will continue to pursue through Deputy Brian Pille at the Plantation Substation as to how we can be assigned a Community Resource Deputy (CDR) again. We are currently sharing Pille with another district.

5. HOA Update

D. Gilliam reported on the HOA for J. Gilliam who was absent. The next meeting is December 2, 2002.

56762. Communities of America - R. Pitrowski

The painting of the walls has been completed.

The well was down for a short while; ants in the switch box. A sealed-type switch was purchased and installed; well again working.

R. Pitrowski gave D. Grady all the information that is due to Mary Mahoney by 11/22/02. D. Grady will mail.

R. Pitrowski passed information to C.A. Kapono and D. Grady regarding the State Pool where we can deposit our money rather than our regular checking account. It is currently paying 1.89%. It will be further investigated.

The holiday poinsettias will be planted within the next week – prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The drip irrigation system has been completed.

Sign cleaning has not been completed as the fountains need to be drained for recoating.

The post replacement has been completed, again, but this continues to be an on-going project. R. Pitrowski will check out alternative posts/markings considering safety and as a means to keep vehicles off the grass.

Up-light installation – the lights have been cleaned and straightened; however, they have not been yet set in concrete.

Santa Visit 2002 will be Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 6:30. Santa will have a police escort again this year. Residents who live on cul de sacs and dead end streets are asked to come to the closest main intersection. Santa has trouble turning his wagon around in tight spots.

County Park Maintenance – David Fountain reported to R. Pitrowski that we are scheduled for only 15-20 cuts per year. As a group, we felt this is inaccurate and insufficient – compared to what we know is done in other communities that are maintained by the County. More research will be done on this by President Grady.

Park Renovation Status – D. Grady will set up a meeting with David Fountain about this. Funds had been appropriated and plans approved; the work is way behind schedule. The County Park Maintenance will also be discussed.

R. Pitrowski was asked to check the uplights of the median and the sign at the Henderson Rd. entrance.

R. Pitrowski was asked to check a water leak at the Henderson Rd. entrance at the PVC pipe connection.

VIII. Public Comments/Other Announcements

Sidewalks for Monterrey Blvd – the Board reported that there is no resolution/solution to this at this time.

C.A. Kapono and D. Grady met with the Deputy Fire Chief expressing our Community’s concerns about response time for emergencies, etc. since Henderson Rd. has become more congested. The Chief stated that, so far, they had not had any problems/issues with this and was surprised that it might be an issue. They also discussed the timing of the traffic signal at Linebaugh and Henderson – where traffic backs up so badly at times, it would be difficult for the emergency vehicles to get down the road. The Chief said this was something he could look into for us.

R. Pitrowski will continue to check/recheck on the issue of LGV purchasing additional liability insurance. There is conflicting information between the County STD Manual and what C.A. Kapono has been told by Mary Mahoney.

Discussion of the upgrade of the Normandie entrance was tabled til January 2003 meeting. R. Pitrowski will bring estimates but we may wait until we know what WalMart is doing on their side so that we can plan accordingly.

WalMart Update – D. Grady reported that requests for bids for construction will be released in January 2003.

Travel signal at Henderson and Gunn Hwy – Hunters Run Apartments is the current motivation to get the traffic signal operational. Within a short time, it will become flashing to alert motorists that there is a new light in place; the next step will be for it to begin cycling. No definite timeframe is known on this.

56822. The next meeting will be January 27, 2003 at the same location. There is no December meeting due to the Christmas holiday.

56823. With all business discussed, M. Dufva made a motion to adjourn the meeting. M. Kapono seconded the meeting. Motion passed 6-0.
